pee pee potty!

Moses was sitting on the potty. so Eden sat down next to him on her mini-potty. after just a second, she said, "pee pee," and sure enough, she had peed in the potty! Oct 2, 2016. less than a month shy of her second birthday! we'll see about when she decides to do it again! until then, i will continue to worry about whether she will take off her diaper during the night and pee and poop in her bed. and yes, it's happened. many many many times. :)

sentences

i'll have to look back at moses's books, but i'm pretty sure eden is picking up this talking thing much more quickly than moses. :) she's definitely picking up sentences. a couple of weeks ago, our favorites were "i got it," when she wants to do something by herself, and "i'm okay," when she accidentally falls down and gets up.

today (one month shy of 2), i heard her say "mommy backpack heavy!" that's definitely a full on sentence, not a common phrase that she hears and repeats. pretty cool, right? she also loves to call me and her reflection in the mirror "so pretty." :) and she squeals with delight when she gets to wear an outfit she likes, saying, "so cute!" I LOVE THIS GIRL!

another thing that i'm finding so precious is that she, just like moses, calls me "momma" when she's feeling playful.

as a side note, after being with the maloneys and their 3 babies last week, i came home with a space in my heart for one more of my own. is that called baby fever? i think it's been there ever since eden was a small infant because of how much of a delight she is. but now i actually feel the absence of a baby in our home. hum. i must be crazy.

Taking care of baby

I think it's really amazing how little girls and little boys learn to do different things. I am not teaching them, but they're learning! Eden loves bags, shoes, and accessories. And today, I saw her for the first time, carrying around her baby doll, feeding her water, patting her back, and giving her tender little kisses. She does something really wonderful in my heart.

So grown up!

Recent new words that I find so adorable: "come," along with the outstretched arm and open and closed hand, and "do it," when she needs help with something. Love her. :)

Getting undressed

Daycare is awesome in so many ways, but there is something that they have been teaching her there that is sort of stressing me out. They are teaching her how to get undressed. It is generally fine. Except now she can also take her clothes and her diaper completely off. At night. Before she falls asleep. Which means for the last week and a half, in scared at how much solid and liquid waste awaits me on my sweet baby girl and her blankets, clothes, crib, etc. tonight I put her to bed with two diapers on, the second one is backward. Hopefully it will train her out of getting completely naked.

Also, I checked on her tonight and she had a poopy diaper, so I changed her while she kept her little forearm draped over her eyes to shield herself from the light. She also periodically lifted her arm to turn and give me flirty smiles. I am in love with her.

So, I haven't kept up with Edens words nearly as closely as I had with Moses. But I guess this is better late than never. Eden has a pretty big vocabulary. I love it, really because I love her little voice. :) she is so delightful. :)

18 month stats. Real quick.

Height 32.25 inches (66%)
Weight 24 pounds (45%)
Head circumference 18.5 inches (63%)

She's a perfect size. :) my little babe!

I don't know if I mentioned that her first sentence was "Mommy, no." Yesterday was her second sentence and it was "Daddy shoe." Haha. Girl loves shoes!

She came to work last week for "Bring your kid to work" day. She worked hard. :)

Four teeth, a cold, weaning, and joy

So, I keep saying it, but really, Eden is the best baby ever! She has recently gotten four new teeth, a cold (complete with irritating eye goop), weaned completely, and she is still joyful. Tonight, the foot of her pajamas had a hole so her big toe was peeking out, and I'm not kidding, she was screaming with joy!! I can't handle how much I enjoy her.

15 month stats and update

We had our 15 month appointment last week, kind of late, I guess. We went to see Dr. Deeb because our regular doc, Dr. Brittany Wilson left the practice. The staff were all trying to be nice about it, except for Dr. Deeb who called it a professional divorce due to irreconcilable differences. :O\ I miss Dr. Wilson. But we'll be moving soon, so there isn't a reason to really look for a new pediatrician for 2 months. Except that he brushed off Moses's visit yesterday. Anyway, this was going to be a happy little update. :O) So, here are Eden's 15 months stats:

  • Height 31.75 inches (85 percentile)
  • Weight 22 pounds 12 ounces (47 percentile)
  • Head circumference 18.5 inches (79 percentile)

  • So, Eden went from 45 percentile for height to 85 percentile so I feel a little less confident of her measurements, but at least she's growing. :O) Plus, she's just perfect. :O) Also, her low iron level was corrected with good diet over the last few months. So, we showed you, Polyvisol. Ha!

She has also started to really use the word, "Up," to get us to pick her up. She raises her arms, looks straight in your eyes, and says it with so much intention. It is so precious that it is really hard to ever say no to it. Of course, the worst comes just before dinner time, when I often have to say no as I cook our meal, which turns into her biggest meltdowns. She cries, Judy howls in response, and Moses often runs off to his room to shut his door and play. It's a sad time of day for Eden. I wish I could just sit and hold that little girl all day. She is so wonderful. :)

I found that she is waking up early these days (like in the 5 o'clock hour), and yesterday, like clockwork, I found two new teeth nubs, her ninth and tenth teeth, these two on her upper gums.

    Weaning, like for real

So, I've been decreasing breastfeeding/pumping slowly since, oh, about October. We've been experimenting with different kinds of milk because of her crazy dry patchy skin. We've true cow milk (which also gives her a runny nose), soy milk (which she doesn't love unless there is a ton of sugar added), unsweetened almond milk (which she doesn't love either), unsweetened vanilla almond milk (which is better, and now rice milk (which is yummy and had more calories than almond milk). Lots of info that's prob not terribly interesting.

I stopped pumping this week. It has been so nice, because pumping. I have still sent bottles of frozen breast milk with Eden, but I think today was the last of my stash. She also didn't really love nursing at night the past couple of nights and this morning, prob because I'm producing less, so it's prob not as satisfying to keep trying to nurse. so, I think it's really ending. I am definitely thinking of how much easier things will be, but at the same time, I'm sad. The way she gets happy when it's time to nurse is just the most adorable thing. I love being close to her, feeling her heavy little body on my belly, and her clammy little hand on my chest and face. It's heavenly. I hope that we can continue doing morning and night for a while, but I know realistically, well prob be done before a couple of weeks.

Our little baby really is not a little baby any more. Little baby boo boo bop, I love you.

We asked her to clean up

So, I guess Eden has been learning a new trick at daycare--cleaning up! She loves to join in when we start to throw toys back into their boxes. And the other day, we even asked her to go and pick up a car from across the room and put it in a box, and she followed directions! Twice! While clapping with joy! I love her so much.

    December (14th month happenings)

The month of December was a big one for Eden, but it was also a particularly busy one for me, so I never did blog these details. But, better late than never, right? :)

    Eden
    * on Thursday Dec 17 fully switched over from crawling to walking, after taking her first steps just 3 weeks prior during Thanksgiving.
    * got a purse for Christmas from Nana, and after just one demonstration, can pack her purse and hang on the crook of her arm like it is the most natural thing!
    * also got pink sneakers, a stroller, and night time bear, which she just adores.
    * might actually really love shoes (like even more than toys). And might currently be her only word. She picks them up and brings them to any willing grown up to help put them on her feet by saying "shoos."
    * often brings toys to me with a look that says, "please help me make this toy work," which I take as a sign of advanced intelligence. :)
    * exactly one time, looked at me, pointed to her sippy, and said, "oo yoo," which is "milk" in Korean. Yay!
    * went on her first road trip and did great. Atlanta to Orando to SC to MD back to Atlanta in just one week. She was a pleasure!
    * sometimes runs to me just to giggle and give me a big bear hug. It's, by far, the best part of my life right now.
    * still wakes up early in the morning to cry at 6 or so every day. Meh. Today, though, the kids randomly both slept until 8! Woah. Incidentally, they also happened to sleep in separate rooms. Hum.
